Meet the Vocation Ministries Team

Fr. Jim Madden, M.M.

Fr. Jim Madden, M.M. is 77 years old and a Maryknoll priest and missioner. After ordination he was assigned to the Peru Region and served many years in the Andean highlands region in the Juli Prelature where he lived a simple life style with the Aymara indigenous people, learned their language, and inculturated the gospel into their culture. Fr. Jim along with Maryknoll Sister Ellen McDonald organized the Maryknoll Affiliates which has over 55 chapters in the United States, Phillipines, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Tanzania, Puerto Rico and Guatemala. Fr. Jim joined the Vocation Ministries Team in September 2010 and was named Vocation Director by Maryknoll's General Council in April, 2011.

Fr. David La Buda, M.M.

Father David La Buda, M.M. is 67 years old and a Maryknoll priest and missioner.  He has spent 32 years in Central America : Guatemala , Nicaragua , and 20 years in Honduras .  As a priest, Father Dave worked mostly in poor urban parishes as a pastor where he formed small basic Christian communities, trained local lay leaders, and fought for the rights of the poor and disenfranchised,.  In 2006 he was called back to become a Vocation Minister, and heads up the Border Mission experience for Maryknoll candidates in El Paso, TX.

Fr. Stephen Booth, M.M.

Fr. Stephen Booth is a native of Huntington, West Virginia.  He entered the Maryknoll Fathers in 1979.  Prior to entering Maryknoll Fr. Steve served as an active-duty Army officer and helicopter pilot for four years followed by law school at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and employment as an attorney in Japan and Seattle.  He was ordained by Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen at the Maryknoll Seminary in 1986.  Fr. Steve worked as a missioner in the Republic of Korea for six years before being assigned to the Air Force Chaplaincy. After 20 years of military service, he retired from the Army and served as director of the Maryknoll Development House in Seattle, Washington.  Fr. Steve joined the Vocation Ministries Team in Septermber, and will reside in Spokane, Washington.

Deacon Steven DeMartino

 
Deacon Steven DeMartino is 50 years old and is the Coordinator of the Office of Vocation Ministries for the Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers at Maryknoll, NY .  Deacon Steven is a deacon of the Archdiocese of New York and works in ministry at St. Augustine parish in Ossining, NY .  He is married and has two teenage boys.  Deacon Steven holds degrees in counseling and business administration.  He has extensive experience in assessment and addiction prevention.  He joined the Vocation Ministries team in 2008.
