Meet the Maryknoll candidates

Shaun Crumb

Shaun Crumb is from central MN.  He attended college at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, receiving an MA in Pastoral Theology.  Shaun is very social justice minded and enjoys sports.  He has led mission immersion trips to Uganda, and Peru and has taught English in Jilin, China as a participant in the Maryknoll teachers' program.  As campus minister and youth minister, he has lead many retreats.  Shaun has been assigned to work in Cochabamba, Bolivia as a student in the Overseas Training Program (OTP). 

Lam Hua

Lam is from the State of Washington and comes from an immigrant family which came to the US when he was 8 years old.  He entered the Maryknoll aspirancy program after High School and graducated from Xavier University in Chicago with a degree in Philosophy.  He is also an Eagle scout.  Lam is presently in Africa on his OTP assignment.

Daniel Kim

Daniel Kim is a first year seminarian from Orange Co., CA. He has an undergraduate degreee in Philosophy and is beginning studies for a MDiv. at Catholic Theological Union.  Before the seminary, Daniel used to enjoy racing motorcycles.  He was also involved with the Bible Life movement, a Korean student enterprise in California.  His ministry is with people who have AIDS.

Angel Garcia

Angel Garcia is from El Salvador and is from Los Angeles, CA.  He is a second year student enrolled at Loyola University in Chicago.  Before entering the seminary he worked at a Mariott hotel.  He is a good cook and a responsible community member.  He enjoys youth ministry and works with minors in a junenile detention facility. 

Dae Kim

Dae Kim is from Brooklyn, NY.  He has a Masters degree in Engineering and worked in Management before entering the seminary.  Dae has just finished his Overseas Training Program (OTP) in Cochabamba, Bolivia where he worked in a Jesuit parish in Cochabamba.  He will begin his final years of Formation in Chicago.

Jonathan Hill

Jonathan Hill was raised in Florida to a missionary and mobile family.  He became a Baptist missionary in 2002 and worked in Honduras, Italy, and the Philippines.  Jonathan had an intellectual conversion to Catholicism in 2004.  Desiring a hands-on approach with people he worked as a youth counselor at a Catholic ranch in Wyoming while discerning God's call to Maryknoll.  He is presently studying philosophy at St. Joseph's Seminary in Chicago.

Peter Latouf

Peter Latouf is originally from Detroit, Michigan.  He worked for the State of Michigan for nine years as a Program Coordinator before moving to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  Peter earned a bachelor's degree in Internation Studies and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology.  He enjoys reading and watching television in his spare time.  Peter was selected as a contestant on the TV game show "Jeopardy" in 2009.

Chase Olinger

Chase Olinger is from Huntington, Indiana and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology.  He is also legally blind and hopes to use his unique perspective to help others in the mission field.  Before being accepted into the Seminary program, Chase worked for two months in Japan in a soup kitchen.

Pablo Talavera

Pablo was born in Talara, Peru, and is from Bakersfield, CA.  He is 24 years old and enjoys literature, playing guitar, philosophy, short-films, and all sports, but especially soccer.  Pablo has actively worked as a youth minister in his parish.  He will be continuing college while in his first year of Formation.

Ryan Thibert

Ryan Thibert is 29 years old and is from Ontario, Canada. He feels drawn to service with the poor and respect for a person's individual gifts. Ryan spent six weeks in Namibia with Brothers Mark Gruenke and Loren Beaudry. He is a candidate for Brotherhood and will begin taking college courses during his first year in Formation.
